I realized this morning that I never blogged (as promised!) about our AWESOME trip to Colorado last month. Oops! I planned to edit photos before posting them, but clearly that plan didn’t work. I keep taking more and more pictures that need to be prettied up and the old ones never get a turn. Oh well! Here’s our trip in photos:
The airplane ‘experience’:
Cooper was beyond thrilled to actually GO INSIDE the airport for the first time. I’m certain he was the happiest person that’s every gone through security! Due to an instant blizzard that developed in the Denver area, we were cooped up at the airport for maaaannnnny hours before catching a flight out. Good thing the novelty of riding the people movers and sipping a Sprite was enough to help us through the day. I wish you could have been there to see his face when we got seated on the plane… pure joy!
When I had the last minute idea to hop on a plane to see some snow, I knew exactly who to call – Lauren! She and her husband and little Lia live in Denver and love to adventure up to the mountains whenever they can. I knew she’d be on board for a quick weekend visit, but I couldn’t have imagined the blessing of staying at the Reitsema cabin in the mountains for a few days. AMAZING!
As soon as we arrived, we climbed out of the car and into our snow suit for some late night sledding! (Could Lia be any cuter?!)
And the rest of the weekend was dedicated to SNOW! Could you guess: he LOVED it!
We chased and sledded and slid. We threw snowballs and tromped through deep snow and made a (mini)snowman. We made snow angels and licked icicles. And then our feet got cold so we came inside and played battleship. It was perfect.
We made a special trip to see an Ice Castle near Keystone. It was neat in the daytime but even more amazing lit up at night!
We originally planned to maybe ski for a day, but it turned out to be better that we ride the gondola up the mountain and play on their tubing runs.
I was so proud of Cooper’s courage tubing down the mountain. He was genuinely afraid but HE DID IT!
Can you tell we had A BLAST?!
It was a treat to see great friends and have so many new experiences all in one weekend. Cooper and I decided that we need to do these mother-son getaways more often!
