Octopus Stew

Last week at school, we learned about the letter O. I had to post pictures of the fun (for both Coop and I!) He made an octopus that is still "swimming" in the backseat of our car and letting his tentacles blow in the breeze as we drive!

In my classroom, we learned a song about the letter O called Octopus Stew - and HAD to have an "O" party as well!

The delicious dish - (hotdogs with a "haircut", dipped in ketchup and mustard and served with a side of cheerios and orange juice!)

I overheard one student asking another, What is octopus stew?
The first little girl responded, Hotdogs and chocolate chips.
The choral response from the table group? YUM!

All I can say is that it was an interesting combo and my classroom smelled like hotdogs for the rest of the day!

My students were all happy O party guests!

Well worth the effort! Such fun!

Boys...

I love the way little boys think.

I've got it!
Let's empty all the contents of the bins and buckets in the garage.
Then let's drag the hose through Mom's flower bed and make it "rain".

You cover me up, then I'll cover up myself.
After all, we don't want to get wet.

They played like this for an hour before I finally snuck outside to snap some photos. These are the photos Cooper will look back on someday with a smile. Oh the things I did when I was five!

Thanks to a recent bathroom renovation (that's not quite finished!) I could take my own photo in the large mirrors waiting patiently to be hung. A grown up Coop will probably remember Mom with her camera crouching behind a bush or sitting on the driveway, happily snapping away while the kids played.

Two happy boys, even after they noticed a girl had invaded the front yard water party!

Another Tooth Lost!

This one came out about 5 minutes after we discovered that it was loose. And he STILL wouldn't let me pull it! For a mom who seriously loves to pull teeth (strange, I know!) it's terrible when your own child won't let you help! Cooper wiggled and yanked this one all on his own.

The new teeth have already started growing in. I've had to convince Cooper to stop trying to wiggle those little nubbins, too! After explaining about adult and baby teeth and that those new teeth will be with him forever, he calls them his "grandpa teeth". Yes, Coop, those WILL be your teeth when you're an old man!

The Tooth Fairy left a dollar to save and one to spend. And a nice note about brushing well and sharing toothless smiles as often as you can!
What a wise Tooth Fairy we have! :)

Just for Fun

Coop is at the age when any "smile for the camera" moment becomes a silly face contest. Each face is sillier than the last. I love it.

His hair was so crazy after running around the gym, I had to snap a picture. Wild face to match that wild hair!
